Whitley Hall Hotel & St Mary’s Church Vow Renewal

St Mary's Church Ecclesfield vow renewal

This is the story of Amanda and Andrew’s vow renewal ceremony which took place at St Mary’s Parish Church in Ecclesfield and then moved on to Whitley Hall Hotel for the reception.

Let’s take a step backwards for a moment and let me explain why this is one wedding I would prefer my wife not find out about.

Elopement

Amanda and Andrew actually got married almost 10 years ago to the day.  In 2007 they eloped to Cyprus and got married with just the hotel staff as witnesses.  In those days their funds were limited and Andrew promised Amanda that on their 10th anniversary they would renew their vows and bring their friends and families together for the wedding they couldn’t afford to have at the time.

Well, 2017 rolled around and Amanda never forgot that promise, which brings us to today.

Why is this a problem for me?

Well, this is a very familiar sounding story; I too eloped 10 years ago.  My wife and I were married in America back in 2007 with only our mothers and my wife’s close family as witnesses.  Is this sounding familiar?  We have talked about throwing a vow renewal bash at some point, but the less said about that the better.  This is all about The Franklands and their special day!

The Day

Considering this is March and we are clearly not in Cyprus, the weather was almost perfect.  OK it was a little chilly but the sun was glorious and, most importantly, it didn’t rain until we were safely inside for the reception.

We started out at Whitley Hall hotel in the late morning where we met the make-up artist, hair dressing team and the very attentive team who would be looking after the proceedings at the hotel in the evening.

We spent a relaxing couple of hours getting ready before heading down to the magnificent gardens at Whitley Hall for a couple of snaps.  Since the sun was so perfect we decided to make the most of it and get some lovely photos of the happy couple with their close family.

We then headed off to St Mary’s church, a short drive down the road.  The beautiful weather continued and the sun shone through the stain glassed windows, bathing the congregation in soft sunlight as the Franklands renewed their vows.

After a couple more photos outside the church we made our way back to Whitley Hall for the rest of the evening.

Shout-outs

Before we get on with the slideshow and photos I wanted to give a few shout outs to the professionals who helped make this day happen.

Amanda would also like to give special mention to Melanie Townrow, a cake-maker who helped Amanda assemble the cakes which she had bought from Marks and Spencer.

Without further ado, here is a small selection of what I consider highlights.
