  • Stanage Edge, Peak District Engagement Shoot :: Hannah & George

Stanage Edge, Peak District Engagement Shoot :: Hannah & George

I never thought I would be so happy to be out taking photos of people that aren’t in my immediate family.

Hannah and George are one of the unfortunate couples whose wedding was postponed from 2020 to 2021 due to ‘the current situation’, which is what we in 2020 are calling the global lockdown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Although they are not getting married until next year, they still wanted to have an engagement shoot this year, so we met at Stanage Edge in the Peak District on a particularly warm spring evening and took some photos.

Surprisingly, we were not the only ones to have the idea of watching the sun set from Stanage Edge, it was rather busy.  So watch out for silhouettes of people sitting around and walking by as you scroll through the images.

  • Engagement Shoot in Sheffield’s Norfolk Heritage Park

Engagement Shoot in Sheffield’s Norfolk Heritage Park

Sheffield’s Norfolk Heritage park has been here the entire time I have lived in Sheffield, and yet it was only recently that I discovered it.

Actually to be fair, my wife discovered it when looking for a good place to bring the kids and their bikes.  Naturally I brought my camera along on our family day out and I found a few great spots to get some really lovely shots of my kids.

That’s when I decided that I really must bring my next engagement shoot here.  So, one sunny Sunday evening in late March, that is exactly where Connie, Gary and I met for some lovely spring-themed snaps.

Wentworth Woodhouse Engagement Shoot :: Claire & Sam

Claire & Sam’s Wentworth Engagement Shoot

These two beautiful people are getting married this coming June at the Rockingham Arms in Wentworth.

Claire told me before this shoot that they were both really nervous and didn’t know what to expect.

They wanted to have an engagement shoot so that they could get used to the idea of having their photos taken. (more…)

  • Katie and Barnaby’s Surprise View Engagement Photo Shoot

Katie and Barnaby’s Surprise View Engagement Photo Shoot

As we walked through the heather to get the best view of the setting sun Katie was sharing with us stories of just how regularly cars are broken into whilst parked in Surprise View car park.

I tentatively glanced over my shoulder toward said Surprise View Car Park which was slowly disappearing into the distance, trying not to think about my own car which now felt somewhat vulnerable.

As the car park disappeared over the horizon I decided that the car didn’t really matter; I had my precious cameras strapped safely around my person, there was nothing left behind for them to take anyway.

  • Red Lion Todwick Engagement Photo Shoot

Red Lion Todwick Engagement Photo Shoot

The first time I met with Anna and Steve prior to them booking me as their wedding photographer it was at The Red Lion, Todwick.  When it came to arranging their pre-wedding engagement photo shoot we thought we may as well meet there again.  In retrospect I’m not sure what we had in mind planning a photo shoot on the embankment of the A57 near J31 of the M1 motorway.

  • Padley Gorge Engagement Photo Shoot

    Padley Gorge Engagement Photo Shoot

Victoria and Kelso are getting married next May with your truly going along as their official photographer for the proceedings.  At this point I am going to stay cool whilst I nonchalantly mention that the wedding will be in Italy, to say I am looking forward to that is a huge understatement.

To help them keep their cool on the day we got together in Padley Gorge for an engagement photo shoot so that they could get used to having me follow them around taking their photo.

They also brought along a little friend who sadly won’t be able to join them on the wedding day.

If you’re looking for a good reason why you would want an engagement shoot have a look at why Aimee (a former Bride of mine) would 100% recommend one:

Why I 100% would recommend an Engagement Shoot

  • Linacre Reservoir Engagement Photo Shoot

    Linacre Reservoir Engagement Photo Shoot

Madeleine and Andrew are getting married at the Clumber Park Hotel this coming August, and what better way to help them get acquainted with having their photos taken than having an engagement shoot around Linacre Reservoir.

We choose to meet in the early evening and were gifted with a beautiful sunset.  Linacre really is a great spot because you have the sun setting over the open water combined with the option to head up into the woods, two for the price of one really. So now, with their newly acquired posing skills ready for action, roll on the 27th August for the big day… see ya then!
